FP Markets Charts and Analysis

FP Markets has a massive catalog of trading resources and trading tools that we will go over, which you can find under the “resources” section of the main menu. There is a lot to take in, so for “Traders Hub” we will give an overview and detail all the material in the “education” section. From the screenshot below, you can expect to find these trading resources and materials for both clients and non-clients;

  • Trading video courses
  • Webinars
  • Podcasts
  • Events
  • Platform video tutorials
  • eBooks
  • Glossary
  • Traders hub

FP Markets: Education and Traders Hub

FP Markets: Education and Traders Hub

The “trading video courses” section is dedicated to video tutorials that is specifically on how to learn to trade. In terms of trading experience level, these videos are not only for beginners, as there is an intermediate and advanced section here as well. One thing to be aware of is that a wide range of the content is geared toward beginners, and there are only a handful of videos for intermediate and advanced trading strategies. Nonetheless, the videos cover most aspects of what a beginner needs to know.

FP Markets: Trading Video Section

FP Markets: Trading Video Section

Then webinars are live-streaming events that you can register for. These are held multiple times a week and hosted in various languages, from Italian to Spanish and German. The webinars are free to register for, but there is a capacity, so you do need to register if you would like to attend. Topics covered here range from trading strategies to money management and more.

FP Markets: Webinars

FP Markets: Webinars

The podcasts section has a playlist of all FP Markets audio files of these that you can access and listen to straight from the page. Additionally, they are also on Spotify and Google podcasts if you prefer those platforms. Once again, here, the topics vary, and some include behavioral biases, how to calculate Swap and rollover, and more.

FP Markets: Podcasts Section

FP Markets: Podcasts Section

You then have FP Markets live events which can almost be thought of as seminars. However, looking at the dates and venues, these events have not been updated and have not taken place since 2021.

The “platform video tutorials” section is quite robust. Here you will find 33 videos on MetaTrader. These videos cover everything from introducing the platform to installing custom indicators. For a beginner “tutorial” MetaTrader course, nothing is left out.

FP Markets then has an “eBook” section whereby upon submitting your Email address, you will be sent two eBooks. The first is “avoid CFD mistakes guides,” and the second is “3 essential strategies from experienced traders.”. These eBooks are not filled with a ton of information but rather focus on trading tips. Nonetheless, they are free and can help enrich your trading experience. However, some other brokers do have quite a comprehensive eBooks section, and seeing that this broker also does, it is a pity that there are no more.

FP Markets: Trading Guides (e-book)

FP Markets: Trading Guides (e-book)

Next is their glossary section, which is based on words, slang, jargon, and phrases used in trading and finance. This section is nothing out of the ordinary, but the layout is a bit strange. There is a search function, but when choosing an alphabetic letter, you are scrolled all the way down the page. More insight into the format is needed here.

Lastly, FP Markets has its “traders hub.”. You will find this in the main menu with links to various sections. However, all the links except for the economic calendar and forex trading calculator are redirected to the home page. Perhaps these sections are still being implemented, but this is something to be aware of.

FP Markets Account Types

There are two account types that you can choose when registering with FP Markets, and they are, namely, a Standard and a Raw account. One thing to note is that these accounts also come as Islamic Swap Free Accounts.

Both the Standard account and Raw account are very similar in that both require a 100 AUD minimum deposit, the maximum leverage is up to 1:500, and the execution is based on ECN pricing. Both accounts have the same tradable assets, including 60 forex pairs, metals, indices, and commodities. Then both accounts are also available for MT4 or MT5.

The only difference between the Standard account and Raw account is based on spread and commission fees. The standard account has zero commission but spreads start at 1 pip. Then the Raw account has a zero pip spread but a commission fee of 3 USD per side. Depending on your needs as a trader, one of these two accounts should suit you. This is especially true if you mainly trade CFDs and forex.

One thing to note is that on FP Markets’ account page, they don’t say which accounts are able to trade stocks and crypto. We assume both accounts will be able to, except that these assets will be limited to MT5 as usual.

FP Markets’ Iress Trading Platform

FP Markets offers the Iress trading platform which is essentially a trading account affording FP Markets clients and retail traders direct market access (DMA) to CFD assets like shares and futures. Meanwhile FP Markets’ retail traders are also able to trade non-DMA aseets with CFD trading in forex, indices and commodities.

FP Markets offers the Iress trading platform in two ways: Retail trading account and Professional or Wholesale trading account. The Iress trading platform account opening process is similar to opening a Standard account and Raw account. Although it isn’t stated explicity how much the minimum deposit should be on an Iress trading account, the minimum balance required is $1,000 on both Iress trading accounts.

As for those keen on mobile trading, FP Markets offers the Iress Mobile Trading App. Additionally, for FP Markets’ mobile trading with the Iress trading platform it is free to use.

Do I Have Negative Balance Protection with This Broker?

Heading to the FP Markets FAQ section, you can get detailed answers to most queries you are searching for and one FAQ answers if this broker offers negative balance protection. FP Markets does, in fact, offer this policy to its clients, although they do not state for which accounts and if this policy applies to all users in all regions.

You should always look for negative balance protection no matter what broker you are planning to sign up with. The only time negative balance protection will not be possible is when you signup with a broker that is a crypto exchange (where you buy actual crypto) or with one that trades in actual company stock.

Some withdrawal fees may be applicable depending on the method used so we suggest you view the information that FP Markets give and contact their support if you are unsure of anything.

The timeframe for withdrawals to be processed usually takes up to one business day, but, again, depending on the method you choose, this may take longer.

Prohibited Countries: Where Can I Not Trade with this Broker?

The only information that FP Markets gives for restricted countries is to mention that they do not accept clients from regions where local laws would prohibit them from doing so. This is what they state;

  • “FP Markets does not accept applications from residents of countries or jurisdictions where such distribution or use would be contrary to local laws or regulations.”

You can find this information by heading to the footer section of their website, where it is below the information regarding the company’s regulatory authorities.

One thing to note is that unless a broker is registered with SEC, residents from the US will not be allowed to register. Special Offers for Customers

The only “promotion” or “special offer” that FP Markets has is that of their “partner” program. This is basically an affiliate program in conjunction with an IB program. You will register and receive a link that you can post online to refer users to the broker.

No information is given on the rebate structure except for a banner on the page that states CPAs for affiliates pay up to 800 USD.

FP Markets Review Conclusion: Reputable Broker with Easy-to-use Platform

Their customer support (although not the best) is pretty good, and so is the client reviews on Trustpilot. As such, we rate this broker as safe and reputable.

PIPPENGUIN

Overall FP Markets is a broker offering a robust user experience to its clients. FP Markets is regulated by multiple financial authorities, including the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC), Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC), and the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA). These authorities are regarded as top-tier, and the broker could be considered safe on that alone.

However, they have been in business since 2005 (almost two decades) and have won numerous awards over the years. Their customer support (although not the best) is pretty good, and so is the client reviews on Trustpilot. As such, we rate this broker as safe and reputable.

Summary and Key Takeaways

Primarily a CFD and forex brokers, FP Markets offers over 10,000 assets to choose from. There are two FP Markets account types. One features no trade-based commissions, but there is a spread, and then the other account (The Raw account) has a 3 USD commission per side but has a zero spread (0.0 pips). It is unclear which assets the zero spread applies to because no broker offers zero spreads for all assets.

The FP Markets trading tools, trading resources and educational material is quite robust, and there is a lot a new trader can learn here, but some pages are outdated, lack information, and are even broken. Lastly, when trading with FP Markets, the only trading platforms available for trading are MT4 and MT5, which is the industry standard, and these are available on all platforms except iOS.
